Company Overview
KnowRe is an education technology company with an innovative cloud-based adaptive learning program for middle and high school math. KnowRe assesses a student’s strengths and weaknesses, algorithmically creates a personalized curriculum targeting that individual’s gaps in learning, and engages students through gamified learning and beautiful graphics. Through its Teacher Dashboard, KnowRe provides teachers with data on each student’s progress and highlights where an individual, or the entire class, may be struggling. KnowRe’s vision is to provide the most effective education by systematizing the world’s knowledge and personalizing the learning experience for students around the world.
Company History
An Educator’s Dilemma
KnowRe was born from a popular after-school math academy in South Korea that focused on providing a personalized learning experience for each student. As the academy grew in popularity, the limitations of this personalized, assessment-based approach became more and more evident. As instructors, we sought out tools to enhance our ability to educate the growing student body, but eventually came to the realization that such a tool did not exist. When we realized that our dilemma was not unique, we decided to build a tool that would bring our vision to life.
KnowRe’s Answer
As educators, you know that one small gap in a student’s knowledge can easily turn into a gaping hole if left unaddressed. The best way to identify these gaps is to simply observe a student solve a problem and determine where he/she is having trouble. However, you also know that it is not feasible to do this for every student or for every question.
We digitalized this educational approach and designed KnowRe to assess and ascertain a student’s mastery of math concepts at an extremely granular level as the student shows their work. In addition to collecting real-time data on students’ strengths and weaknesses, KnowRe develops and provides a personalized curriculum that addresses students’ individual learning needs. Through our Teacher Dashboard, KnowRe also displays each student’s progress and where each individual or the entire class may be struggling. The best education is one that is customized to the needs of that individual student; thus we designed KnowRe to help teachers give more personal attention to each student.
